  6. causes. Yet there she was before a press conference in Washington,
  7. launching Mothers and Others for Pesticide Limits. The deeply
  8. private actress, who chairs the campaign, is alarmed at a report
  9. by the Natural Resources Defense Council that preschool children
  10. are routinely exposed to dangerous levels of chemicals in fruits
  11. and vegetables. Said Streep: "I feel as a parent I have absolutely
  12. no choice but to come out and speak out and join others to alert
  13. the populace at large." Streep added, "You don't want to feel you
  14. have to be a biochemist to do the shopping." It's not a plum role.
